Easy paper origami
Do you know where origami originated? It comes from the Japanese words oru which means ‘to fold’ and kami which means ‘paper’. Paper folding in those ancient times were strictly used for ceremonial purposes – often religious in nature but by the Edo period (1603- 1868) paper folding had become recreational too. It came to be regarded as a new form of art that was enabled by the advent of paper both mass-produced and more affordable. Today, however, origami often prioritizes a puzzle aspect to the folding, and the challenge of folding a single square of paper without using cuts or glue. Keeping this in mind, we have some kid-friendly origami ideas that the kids will enjoy folding and playing with afterwards!

Easy pleated peacock paper fan
Is the last of the summer heat getting to you? This paper peacock fan is so easy to make over the school holidays. It’s as easy as folding a paper fan and sticking the two semi-circles together.
