Polymer Clay Keyring with Stacey van Rensburg

Polymer Clay Keyring with Stacey van Rensburg

What you will need:

  • Fimo polymer clay
  • Blade or craft knife
  • Rolling pin
  • Shape cutter
  • Keyring
  • Food grater

Method:

  • Condition the Fimo clay by rolling it out with a rolling pin, and mix the colours you want to use.
  • Take your additional colour, which will form the ‘speckles’ effect, and gently rub this against a grater. Find the right texture on the grater to suit your look. I used the finest texture. Keep this grater for future use separate from your food grater.
  • Gently roll over the clay to press the speckles into the base colour.
  • Roll out your third colour very thinly. Take a blade or craft knife and cut the edge straight and clean. You may find the need to use the blade to help lift the clay off your work surface.
  • Place the thin layer on top of the base at the position you like most.
  • Gently roll to join all layers.
  • Use a shape cutter to cut out your keyring shape.
  • Bake for 45 – 60min following the instruction on the pack of clay.
  • Once cooled, remove from the oven and attach to a keyring.
