Make A Gift Day: 5 Cheap Christmas Gift Ideas To Make Yourself

DIY Christmas Gift Ideas

The holiday season is upon us, and it’s time to start thinking about the gifts we want to give our loved ones. We all know that the best gifts are homemade ones, but it’s also a great feeling to give someone something they would actually use.

Making a homemade gift is such an easy way to show someone how much you care about them without having to break the bank on an expensive purchase. It’s just as special when it comes from the heart as something store-bought, but even more meaningful since they will know exactly who put in all the time and effort into picking out everything with them in mind.

3 December is marked as Make a Gift Day. This is the perfect opportunity to set aside some time and get those creative juices flowing. Make it an event and let the kids join in on the fun. There is no better feeling than giving a handmade gift to someone you love for Christmas. You can’t go wrong! If you’re interested in making your own holiday presents, here are some DIY Christmas gift ideas.

Don’t forget to purchase all your supplies at your nearest PNA store.

5 DIY Christmas Gift ideas

  1. Chalkboard / noteboard

This is one of the easiest and most useful gifts to make and will definitely be one of the cheapest as well.

Get a piece of wooden board in the size you want, black chalkboard paint, paintbrushes, sanding paper, and tape to guide you as you are painting. Sand the board, measure out the piece you want to paint with tape, and paint. Let the board dry and remove the guide tape. How easy is that?

You can always use an old serving tray or frame lying around and use that instead of a piece of wooden board. Take out the old picture and paint it with chalkboard paint. Voila! You have a lovely chalkboard to gift someone, and it’s recycled material! Remember to add a pack of chalk to your gift.

  1. Easy clutch

This is for sewing enthusiasts. Make a cute and simple clutch to keep your everyday items together. You’ll need fabric, lining fabric, a zipper, nice trim (optional), thread, pins, and a sewing machine. Follow the instructions for a super cute small bag that any woman would love: Easy clutch instructions.

  1. Painted Wooden Spoons

Another super easy one! Perfect for the kids and can also be a lovely Christmas gift for a teacher. Get some wooden spoons from your local store. These do not have to be the most expensive spoons. Any will do. Go all out with the paint colours! You can even get more creative and paint some patterns.

  1. Instagram Coasters

This is a wonderful, personalised gift that anyone would appreciate. It’s perfect for gifting to a guy to maybe use in his man cave or bar and to gift to a woman to use on her coffee table at home. Grandma will also love this! Especially a set with all her grandkids on to brag with. Start by picking some memorable moments from the person’s Instagram account. 1. Flavoured salt

Perfect for all the chefs in the family, this flavoured salt gift idea will be a lovely addition to a person’s spice rack. The possibilities are endless with the recipes you can make. Maybe just test them out before you gift them. LOL. Here are 3 different recipes to try out.
