World Cancer Day 2021

Join us today as we honour those fighting and those who have lost to cancer on World Cancer Day. Unfortunately, many have been touched by this dreadful disease, either directly or indirectly. It’s actually difficult to find a person in today’s society who haven’t been touched…

In remembrance and determination, we aim to help you to understand more about cancer and inspire you to take action so that, cohesively, one day, there will be many who are not affected. Many types of cancer exist, and it commonly arises when cell mutations lead to growths called tumours. When not detected early and treated accordingly, cancerous growth can start to infect other body parts when spreading.

It’s severe and a widespread health issue. The time to act is now! Visit World Cancer Day, learn more about cancer, get involved, download material should you want to create awareness in your neighbourhood, community and society, read other individuals’ stories, and take the 21-day challenge.

We want to incorporate other recommendations to this day and the rest of the month too, seeing that it’s the month of love as well.

Send A Card To A Friend

On, Sunday, 7 February, we celebrate Send A Card To A Friend Day. It could be any type of card – appreciation, birthday celebration, achievement celebration, etc. Most importantly, when you have a friend fighting against cancer or know of something that might be fighting the battle with a loved one, we encourage you to send a letter, at least a text message, to let them you that they’re not alone.

Even if it’s not a friend and just an acquaintance, remind them of what they mean to others and why – why giving up shouldn’t be an option. Head over to PNA to find supplies to decorate your letter with encouraging words or items. You could spend hours there! If this feels a bit silly to you, it shouldn’t as you could make someone’s day. Just don’t forget the glitter.

Random Acts Of Kindness

At the end of February, we also observe Random Acts of Kindness Week (15 – 21 February), but being kind doesn’t have a timeline. We urge you to show kindness to your fellow humans throughout this month and every other day. Let’s make the world a better place to live in with kindness – giving, listening and expecting nothing in return.

Connect kindness with World Cancer Day. No one has an idea of what goes on in others’ lives. Kindness can easily start with a smile and being polite; people don’t need another battle to face, such as intolerance and disrespect.

If you feel like doing more, volunteer at homeless shelters or a food drive in your community. Donate clothes and other unneeded items to those in need. Families all around us are struggling in some way. Choose not to ‘want to hear’ or ‘want to see’, but rather lead by example.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone reading this blog and those in need of calming words, a helping hand, and those who serve as angels on earth. Let’s be there for one another.

Be kind. #IAmAndIWill
