Get Your Stick On, It’s Sticker Day!

Sticker Day

Don’t you just lovvve stickers?! From physical custom made to everyday stickers and even the digital ones…every sticker has its own story. They come in different shapes, sizes and colours and can be used on a variety of things from lunchboxes, scrapbooking paper to planners and notebooks.

Sticker Day

In the 1980s, European merchants were some of the first to stick labels to their products to promote their goods to bypassers. They used gum paste to get the labels to adhere and stick, hence ‘stickers’. A sticker-specific paste had been developed in the 1900s and was mostly used on stamps which dried and would re-apply when moistened.

Sticker Day is annually celebrated on 13 January, in honour of R. Stanton Avery who was born on this day in 1907. He is the rags-to-riches entrepreneur who created the first commercially feasible self-sticking, peel-off labels.
