PNA Women’s Month – Employee Focus – Judy Hanekom

PNA Women Features

As part of women’s month, we are taking the opportunity to thank and recognise the women in PNA for their hard work and dedication. We want you to get to know some of the women who are the lifeblood of our group!

Meet,

Judy Hanekom is the Area Manager for PNA Plattekloof, Paarl, N1 City and Canal Walk in the Western Cape. She manages the daily operations of these four stores to meet their business goals, and this means anything from setting sales targets to HR matters to stock orders. With over 33 years of experience in retail, maintaining and exceeding the customer experience as well as keeping her teams motivated and positive are high on her daily agenda.

What is the best part of working at PNA?

I love working with people, especially coaching and training them to achieve the best they can and also by keeping them positive, cheerful and goal-oriented at all times. I have always believed that Sales success is 80% Attitude and ONLY 20% Aptitude. It all starts in your mind. We become what we think, so I always say THINK BIG TO GET BIG!

What has been your biggest challenge working through Covid?

Covid has brought so much uncertainty, and our employees have been rightfully distracted. So it has been a challenge to keep the teams motivated and focused.

What has been your proudest moment as a PNA Area Manager?

I am always proud when I see members of my team making a meaningful difference at work, and I understand that their attitudes and mindset play an important role in achieving their life and professional goals. I feel exceptionally proud when I see my staff ‘click’ and understand that your mind is a powerful thing – when you fill it with positive thoughts, your experience of life will start to change for the better, and you will achieve great things you thought were impossible!

What advice would you give other women in retail?

My advice to women in retail is to always believe in yourself, be yourself. I always say that you should work hard in silence and let your success be the noise.
