Let’s Teach The World About Teachers Day

World Teachers Day 5 October

It’s that time of the year where we give thanks to the entities and individuals teaching the generations of tomorrow. Of course, we’re referring to the world’s teachers and schools, because even today’s adults (including you reading this 😉) wouldn’t have made it this far if it weren’t for them.

Join us in celebrating the role teachers play around the globe as educating future generations is not a light one but rather a long-term dedication. The theme for this year is “Teachers: Leading in crisis, reimagining the future.” The global pandemic has significantly added to the challenges already faced by teachers, such as over-extended education systems globally, but we’re all at crossroads.

Everyone has been overwhelmed since March, with schools closed and having to educate our kids from home with teachers’ assistance and guidance… and we can all agree that this wasn’t an easy task. Still, we’ve learned to work with teachers to protect the right to education and unfold a landscape where this is possible.

Teachers have been present in remote learning, supporting vulnerable populations, reopening schools, and continuously ensuring that learning gaps had been mitigated. Therefore, we invite you to celebrate these brave souls who are at the heart of efforts to attain the global education target of leaving no one behind by taking stock of achievements and draw attention to their voices, even if it’s with DIY gifts.

Let’s Celebrate our Teachers

Just as teachers enjoy giving the gift of knowledge, they also enjoy receiving a gift of appreciation, even if it’s only once in a while. You’re probably pondering on what the ideal gift would be, but to be honest, DIY gifts are the best because it equals the efforts they put into their lessons… and man, do they invest a lot of time in making the accompanying activities enjoyable… Here are a few ideas:

  1. DIY Glass Magnets: It’s easy, cute, and practical, and you only need Modge Podge, glue, magnets, glass pebbles, scissors, and scrapbook paper. If you want to add something extra, you can include a magnetic board to the gift that the teacher can put up in the classroom.

  • DIY Ruler Wreath: Made with rulers and a bit of personalisation unique to specific personal interests, a ruler wreath would be perfect for welcoming everyone entering the classroom door.

  • Sharpie Inspiration: Every teacher is either publicly or secretly in love with new stationery, and it could never be a wrong decision. Shop at your nearest PNA store and buy her a couple of Sharpie pens with an inspiring message to not only make their day, but their year.

  • Teacher Appreciation Bookmarks: Every teacher reads and what better way to mark their chapters with DIY bookmarks than with words of appreciation? It doesn’t have to be one, but perhaps three or five. Let your kids help with decorating it or think out their own messages to add a more personalised touch.
  • Marker Bouquet: A couple of new markers (whiteboard markers, permanent markers, etc.) in a single dressed up bouquet will make every teacher smile. The same can be done with pencils if you prefer a pencil bouquet.
