Get your art on

We’re all back from the holidays, and into an exciting new year. The possibilities are endless. According to research, the best time to develop new healthy habits is when there’s the start of something new. So get your art on!

Get your art on

This is why resolutions work so well for New Year’s Eve – we just need to stick them out long enough for them to become engrained.

One of the best ways to relax and de-stress is through arts and crafts. Many people feel it isn’t for them. But we disagree. Everyone is born with that divine spark of creativity, to some degree, to help you get your art on.

And normally what stops people is the thought it “won’t be good enough”. Well, it will. You’re not doing arts or crafts for anybody else, but you.

There is nothing more satisfying than making a clay statue and having it on a cabinet top. Or framing your own painting. Or even, and yes these are really nice to do, buy an adult colouring in book and taking your time to add colour to your world. Literally. (So get your art on.)

The first step is simply stepping inside a PNA near you. We have only the highest quality arts and crafts, from canvasses and paints to charcoal pencils and sketching pads. Sit on a porch and use water colour paints to sublimely capture the setting sun as its light scatters across the red-hued sky.

Sketch your children or grandchildren. With charcoal pencils, it is easy and fun.

Paint a cabinet

But perhaps most enjoyable a project of all is our wooden items that haven’t been painted yet. Everything from jewellery boxes to small cabinets are available. Simply select the acrylic colours you love… there are a range, from a set of bright colours, to the softer shades of Autumn and Spring with our Two Seasons collection.

Then, find a broad brush and a palette, and paint away. We literally have everything in-store you could possibly need for your little project. And be creative. Even use stickers on the finished project. Perhaps paint in unexpected colours, to create a cabinet that really stands out.

Whatever you choose to do, be like Nike and JUST DO IT.

Once you do, you’ll fall in love with it. Arts and crafts are very special.

A coming attraction

Look out for a PNA tutorial blog on painting and decorating a plain wooden item, if you feel a bit unsure. We’ll take you through the full creative process there. It’s coming soon to help you get your art on.

In the meantime, sketch, paint a landscape, mould clay, or simply scrapbook (yes, we have  those too – there are plenty of glues and scissors in-store perfect for scrapbooking).

We’ll be doing a blog on scrapbooking later in the year, too. So make sure you stay tuned, there’s plenty to get out of PNA and our passion for arts and crafts.

Also, be sure to check out our page for an idea of what we have in-store. You’ll find the arts and crafts supplies you need to get your art on there!

Oh, one last thing: may all your resolutions hold true!
