PNA - EBENHEZER PRE-SCHOOL

2 x 6m joined container classroom, 28 July 2021 – With the support of the generous team at PNA, on Wednesday, 28 July 2021, Breadline Africa was able to hand over a 2 x 6m joined container classroom to the delighted staff and children of Ebenhezer Pre-School.

Founded in 1990 by the long-standing principal Mrs Nomsa Mapoma, the school was initially located in a local Orange Farm church. But after only a few years, they had outgrown the space and moved to a neighbouring church that could accommodate them.

Nomsa does her best to ensure that her children are well-prepared for ‘big school’, in spite of the fact that few parents can afford to pay fees consistently – and this has worsened during the Covid-19 pandemic.

In her speech, Nomsa explained that she had been blessed with the gift of love for children. Using her gift, she nurtured the children of Orange Farm year after year, her passionate service drawing more demand. So much so, that this year, there are 188 children enrolled.

PNA’s Marketing Manager, Chantelle Fritz explained that the company believes that it is very important to invest in South Africa and the best way to do that is to have an impact on early childhood development. “That’s why we are here in Orange Farm today, and we hope this classroom is the first of many more across the country,” she added.

Having received the keys just a few days before the launch, the children had already explored their new learning space and the teachers said that the classroom was a huge improvement in terms of light and warmth, making it a much more pleasant environment for everyone. Songs thanking both PNA and Breadline Africa rang through the morning air.

The morning ended with Nomsa and Chantelle cutting the ceremonial ribbon and officially opening the classroom for all Ebenhezer Pre-School learners, now, and for years to come.
