We’re Celebrating Talented Instagram Artists on Human Rights Day!

Human Rights Day

Happy Human Rights Day, PNA stationeers, innovators and creators! Today’s commemoration provides us with the opportunity to reflect on progress made in promoting and protecting basic human rights. Not only does this day happen to be on a Sunday, but we also get tomorrow as an extra holiday to create whatever we want to – more time for arts and crafts! Eek!

We don’t know about you, but we are extremely happy about the extra hours, and we can’t wait to see what you’ll be sharing with us on social media. Don’t forget to tag us and use #HumanRights. But let’s get back to the basics for just a quick second…

Human Rights Day

Due to the Sharpeville and Langa events, we honour those who fought for our liberation and the rights we enjoy today. These rights include:

  • Equality – everyone is equal before the law and has the right to equal protection and benefit.
  • Human dignity – everyone has inherent dignity and have their dignity respected and protected.
  • Freedom of movement and residence – everyone has a right to freedom of movement and to reside anywhere in the country.
  • Language and culture – everyone has the right to use the language and to participate in the cultural life of their choice.
  • Life – everyone has the right to life.

Usually, various activities are hosted throughout the country and throughout the month to uphold this culture. However, this year would be digital. Still, with it comes the responsibility that we have to build a society that respects the rule of law. Every individual needs to demonstrate the kind of responsibility they would like to see in our country’s future.

Human Rights Day at PNA

At PNA, we embrace all artists no matter gender, colour or sexual orientation. We recognise every talented artist and crafter and the work they produce. Together we believe we can take big steps in the right direction, including everyone to colour the world, despite the challenges we might face.

We invite you to spend the day with us by filling the gap and exploring exciting new art – whether you’re choosing oil pastel, watercolour, pencil, or coffee… Let’s shape the market we want to see and be and discover overlooked artists. Regardless of your motivation, we encourage you to involve others around you, acknowledging their work and induce diversity into South African art. By keeping up with times and the needs of a new generation of art lovers, PNA will ensure their relevance and success.
