Tips for planning the perfect Mother’s Day

Like with a birthday, Mother’s Day comes around once a year and who deserves a second birthday other than Mom? Show your love and appreciation this year by treating her to an entire day of surprises, pampering and oodles of fun! The trick is however to plan ahead, make sure everything is in place when Mom gets up and of course, keep it a secret!

Handmade cards

Where do you start? With the handmade cards! Nothing is more touching than receiving a handwritten note! Of course, uniquely drawn cards also have a warm place in Mom’s heart. Taking the time to sit down and express your love and appreciation shows thoughtful devotion and goes way beyond what an impersonal store-bought card can achieve.

Let her sleep in

While you’re working on the second part to the plan, give Mom some time to sleep in. It’s exhausting to be a mom so round up the kids (or your younger siblings) and remind them to be extra quiet so as not to wake Mommy.

Breakfast blowout

The classic breakfast-in-bed treat never gets old. Eggs, bacon, toast and maybe a muffin or two is a sure set way to start the day! Incorporate the kids if they’re able to help. This gesture will warm her heart and show her how much you appreciate her involvement in your life.

Pamper session

It’s the little things that count. Does Mom love gardening? Then saddle up the kids and head outside to help her with the gardening. Has she always dreamt of going for a massage or manicure, but never seems to have the time or means to do so? Whichever activity fits her style, the whole family should get involved and help make the day exactly how she wants it.

Night-in with the family

Skip the busy restaurant scene and opt for a quiet night on the couch as you snuggle up with all your favourite persons. A busy day of pampering can be quite draining, and some downtime is the best cure. Order takeout, pop some popcorn and get stuck into a (kids-friendly) romantic comedy. Sitting in the family room, relaxing, and chatting are where some of the best memories are made.

Planning the perfect Mother’s Day isn’t easy – especially if the kids are all too eager to help and let one of the surprises slip. Oops! No matter, we’re sure Mom will still love the effort and love that went into it. Be sure to check out our blog for some Chic Mother’s Day DIY gifts that are sure to make her heart melt.
