Things to do for New Year’s

Things to do for New Year’s… it can be daunting. Maybe this year, you’ve decided you don’t want to go out – but rather have friends over for drinks and a meal. No one can blame you – it can get crazy out there! And what’s better than the warm intimacy of friends.

Well, we have a few suggestions for things to do for New Year’s.

For instance, puzzles. We have plenty to choose from at the PNA. The enjoyable part of putting together a puzzle is it makes a great group activity – where you all hunt for pieces to fit together. The difficulty level is up to you, but we think a good number of puzzle pieces for adults is 1000. That will easily take up a good hour of your time. It’s just another of the many things to do for New Year’s

Then there’s shot glass games, for the younger crowd. You can find these games at some of our PNA stores. They make for an entertaining evening – where if you mess up, you have to drink a tot. But who says it has to be alcoholic? Why not make it ginger bear or virgin gin and tonic? Perhaps if you don’t like to drink (or drink too much), but still fun.

Be a card. Play cards!

Then there are a variety of card games you can pick. For instance, remember playing Go Fish with your granny when you were a whippersnapper? It’s still fun to play, and a couple of rounds will go down well. You can pick up a standard set of cards, too, and play favourites like Crazy Eights (which is much like the game UNO), Rummy, or Old Maid.

You can even play Poker! Instead of chips (if you have none), you can use match sticks. There’s no need to play for actual money – why not pay for favours, such as whoever loses the game overall has to make everyone a pot of tea. (However, we also have another idea: why not play with actual chips? Like potato chips. You then get to eat what you win in a round!)

But you don’t want to leave your home undecorated. There’s plenty of New Year’s décor available at some of our stores. For more suggestions, such as with food, read this blog post of ours.

Whatever you choose to do for the evening, we wish you a Happy New Year’s Eve, and look forward to seeing you in 2019.
