PNA Women’s Month – Employee Focus – Rene Davids

PNA Women Features

As part of women’s month, we are taking the opportunity to thank and recognise the women in PNA for their hard work and dedication. We want you to get to know some of the women who are the lifeblood of our group!

Meet,

Rene Davids is the Operations Manager for PNA Meadowridge, Plumstead, Rondebosch and Observatory. She is passionate about retail and a hard grafter who oversees the day-to-day running of the stores. Rene started as a casual worker and, within 6 years, has become a vital part of the Cape Town operations.

What is the best part of working at PNA?

Everything!  From the interaction with customers, staff and reps.  To learn about new products. To me, every store is like a storybook with exciting new pages to explore.

What has been your biggest challenge working through Covid?

Our stores have taken a knock during Covid. School opening late and then closing has meant uncertainty for us, too, along with parents emailing or phoning their orders to the store because the fear of this virus has also been a bit chaotic.

What has been your proudest moment as a PNA Operations Manager?

The opening of Meadowridge, Observatory and Rondebosch. I had the privilege of seeing these stores as a blank canvas and being a part of the transformation into a beautiful PNA store. Observatory and Rondebosch we opened 2 weeks apart, which was challenging and exciting at the same time. But we really had an amazing team that made it happen!

What advice would you give other women in retail?

If you are willing to put in the work, then the sky is your limit. Be strong and firm.
