Let’s celebrate our South African artists!

International Artists Day 25 October

As painting, sculptures, and music has been an important part of the human experience for time out of mind, PNA still prides itself today in providing a variety of products at best prices to meet the needs of stationeers, hobbyists, creators, and innovators. We equip to achieve, inspire to create, and enrich to discover more than just the ordinary.

This also brings us to celebrating local South African artists on International Artists Day, on Sunday, 25 October 2020. We honour all the creative souls, whether artists or crafters, leaving a record of today for the future that can be captured in history books, even digitally.

Where does International Artists Day originate from?

A Canadian artist, Chris MacClure, who specialises in the style known as ‘Romantic Realism’ has founded International Artists Day. His paintings reflect his vision as the ‘Romantic Realist’ on life and made him one of Canada’s noteworthy artists. This day is to bring recognition to the art world and to celebrate all the manners artists choose to bring their views to life.

We have undeniably amazing and creative work artists carry out, some of which is not well-known but has been an inspiration to others within their communities. We should take time to reflect the incredible impact these artists had and still have on us and the world around us. This is not solely focused on paintings, as there are many forms of art, but includes anything from sketching to colouring, from origami to clay creations, and from calligraphy to quilling.

An artist is a special person who thinks outside the box. Someone who’s naturally creative who sees something from a different perspective. The work they produce is outstanding, as each one is unique. And if you’re not creative at all, don’t worry, at least we get the opportunity to appreciate their talents.

Celebrate with us!

The only suggested way is to spruce up your home with the art of a local artist. Whether it’s for the living room or bedroom, choose to buy from the local art community. Perhaps you feel like your garden is a bit empty? Then the perfect wooden sculpture such as a giraffe or something made out of steel like a gecko or a flamingo would be ideal for adding?

Luckily, in South Africa, art is everywhere, so you won’t be missing out on bringing an artistic feel to your life. View our Instagram if you’re not sure what you’re looking for – there are a couple of talented artists selling their work!

If you are an artist yourself, celebrate with other artists and us, especially by creating awareness around their work – take an artist to lunch, visit a gallery, or participate in something creative outside your daily routine.

Another way is to learn about famous artists such as Salvador Dali, Andy Warhol, Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso, and Vincent van Gogh. You’ll be amazed by their fascinating life stories and their incredible pieces of work. Also, spend time to consider learning more about artists that are not too well-known.

Choose art today and live life. Happy International Artists Day!
