Ice Cream Month: 6 Art & Craft Ideas for Adults & Kids.

World Watercolour Month

I scream, you scream! We all scream for ice cream! It’s Ice Cream Month, and it’s time to be cool with a scoop of our favourite flavours – milk chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, you name it. But of course, we’re taking a turn because even though it’s pretty cold and not everyone enjoys an ice cream in the winter (there’s nothing wrong with you if you do!), we thought about bringing out all the exciting arts and crafts involving ‘ice cream’.

If this childhood treat had defined most of your life, with the ice cream combi driving down the street with its well-known tune, marking some of the best moments in your life – screaming down the road with money in your hand before it drove away… then we hope that this blog helps you relive some of those good ol’ memories.

Join us in making the following ideas while gorging yourself on ice cream at every opportunity because cold and cold makes warm, doesn’t it?! Let’s see what there is; oh, and of course, we’ve included some ideas for the kids too!

Ice Cream Fridge Magnets

Make some cute DIY fridge magnets using resin or egg cartons, or dry air clay – super easy and fun for decorative use!

Ice Cream Cone Painted Rocks

These ice cream painted rocks make a super fun and easy art activity. Not only kids will enjoy creating their own ice cream character, adults will love it too! You will need river rocks, paintbrushes, a paint palette, paint pens, a water dish and a pencil. Follow the instructions here.

Ice Cream Cone Pom-Pom Garland

Got some yarn? This idea is the perfect décor accessory for the next birthday party. Use pom-poms as the cream and square papers as the cone of your ice cream garland and hang them from a rope with yarn strings. Follow the step-by-step tutorial right here!

Cotton Ball Ice Cream Craft for Kids

This cotton ball ice cream craft is so fun, easy to prep and perfect for kids to experience with colours. The materials you’ll need are white cardstock, beige cardstock, cotton balls, glue, washable kids paint (about half a teaspoon each), droppers, cups with water (half cup), and craft scissors.

Ice Cream Counting Activity

Sensory play is crucial to brain development. It helps build nerve connections in the brain. Most of the time, sensory play turns into a mess, but a messy home with kids just means there was lots of play happening! Download the free print here, gather some items around the house and let your little mush, dump, squirt, and drizzle all the toppings on while they practice counting to ten.

Freezer Paint Popsicles

Pop a few of these paint pops in the freezer for a super cool painting activity outdoors! You will need just 3 ingredients – a popsicle mould, washable paints, and popsicle sticks. It’s as easy as 1,2,3 and will keep your little ones busy for hours, especially with the weather not being too hot for anything to melt too quickly.

Quick Ice Cream Facts

Before we leave you to have some colourful fun, here are a few ice cream facts:

  • Vanilla is the most popular flavour of ice cream.
  • The ice cream soda was invented in 1874.
  • It takes roughly 50 licks to finish an ice cream cone.

Okay, have fun, PNA fans. Happy Ice Cream Month!
