We’ve got some exciting DIY’s lined up this month! If you’ve kept up and loved our previous suggestions, these are sure to tick all your crafting boxes. Learn how to make your own homemade floral soaps (great for teacher year-end gifts), floral fairy lights (a must-have in any girly teen’s room), display shelves to display your knickknacks and a fun little game for younger kids.

Floral soaps

It’s time to perfect your soap making skills! We just love making our own – add dried herbs, flowers, or even a little toy to personalize your soap. You’ll first want to start with the soap base. Cut the soap into small pieces and melt in a ceramic bowl in the microwave. Stir and repeat until the soap base is completely melted. Add fragrance oil (if desired) and pour half of the mixture into a mold or deep-set dish. Leave to set.

Now for the fun part! Sprinkle dried flower petals over the soap and cover with the remainder of the melted soap. Add more dried flower petals on top and leave it to set completely.

We’ve found that putting the mold in the freezer for 20 min before you remove the soap makes it much easier to get out.

Flower fairy lights

Sleep under the stars with fairy lights! But not just any fairy lights, these whimsical fairy lights give off a gentle, rosy glow turning your room into fairy heaven.

Display shelves

Don’t you just hate having to drill into your walls? With these easy DIY shoebox shelves you’ll be able to paint, stick and stack them without even reaching for the drill (or wood for that matter).

You’ll need:

• Shoeboxes, new or recycled
• Acrylic paint
• Coloured cardboard
• Command medium (5.4kg) picture hanging strips

Marble run
