You will need:

  • Journal
  • Sanding paper
  • Wood glue
  • Mod Podge
  • Cardboard
  • Tissue paper
  • Paint: Black, white, brown and red
  • 8 small beads and one bigger bead
  • 1 heart shape bead

Steps:

  • Sand down softly the outer cover of the journal to help with adhering to the
  • Draw the shape of your wood door and brick tiles and cut the pieces out.
  • Glue the door pieces first to the journal cover, followed by the brick tiles. Remember to do the back also with brick tiles. Leave to dry.
  • Glue the small beads to the outer edge of the door.
  • Glue the bigger bead to create the door handle.
  • Mix tissue paper with water and break it Drain the water well. Add wood glue to the tissue paper paste and mix thoroughly. Shape rock stones on the outer edge of the door. Leave to dry.
  • Add some tissue paper pasted to the front door and add your heart bead. If you are in a hurry, place the journal outside in the sun or use a hairdryer.
  • Cover the journal with a layer of tissue paper and mod podge. This will soften the lines and give it a more natural look and feel. This will also prevent lifting.
  • Paint everything black and allow it to dry.
  • Mix black and white paint to get a grey tone. Start painting the bricks. Add more white paint to the grey paint for more dimension.
  • Add even more white paint and start to paint the rock walls.
  • Paint the door brown and then add a lighter shade of brown to give it dimensions.
  • Remember to do the back of the journal in the same way.
  • Leave to dry
  • Apply a layer of mod podge over the whole project to seal it up.
