DIY year-end gifts for teachers

Oh, how the year has flown! It’s almost time to get the holiday decorations out and start planning the long-awaited holiday. But before you get caught up in all the festivities and party planning, let’s give a thought to all those who made our little ones’ years a little bit more special. We’re of course talking about our teachers. We appreciate how they care and educate our kids and help them learn all they need to know about becoming well-rounded and educated adults. Now’s the time to show your appreciation without breaking the bank. Have a look at some of our top year-end gifts. Pssst…these also work great for co-worker year-end gifts.

Simple Spa Day

Treat your child’s favourite teacher to a day at the spa without the price tag! We just love the idea of the DIY Spa Trio: peppermint scrub, peppermint whipped body butter and peppermint foot soak. Did you know that peppermint oil is a natural pain reliever? Not only can it be used to relieve sore muscles when used with massage or added to bath water, but it can also reduce headaches when massaged into the temples. Now that sounds like a great way to unwind after a long term! Teacher will love this one!

A fresh hint of relaxation

Scents is one of the best ways to relax when the weight of the year settles in. Our solution: boost your mood and feel calm and collected before the stresses settle in. Create your own DIY aromatherapy room sprays so that Teacher can sprits the classroom with whenever she feels like it!

You’ll need:

  • 50 ml distilled water
  • 50 ml vodka (try to avoid rubbing alcohol)
  • 120 ml spray bottle
  • 15 drops chamomile essential oil
  • 15 drops rosemary essential oil

Steps:

  • Pour the alcohol into a small spray bottle.
  • Add the essential oils and shake well.
  • Add the water and shake again.

Neat and tidy table décor

Every desk needs a touch of colour and these sure do make a statement. Succulents come in all shapes and sizes and look good in just about any setting – even the classroom! Pick a grey toned spray paint for a modern feel or even baby pink and white stripes, depending on the teacher’s interests. A fun idea is to get the kids involved and get their creative input! Have them paint some fun designs on the side like apples, recess shenanigans or even a portrait of your child with the teacher.

You’ll need:

  • Chalkboard tags
  • Mason jars
  • Spray paint
  • Twine
  • Chalk
  • Optional: coloured paint
