Celebrate World Stationery Day with PNA – Here’s How!

World Stationery Day 2022

If you’re a PNA fanatic, you probably have the feeling too that one can never have too much stationery. Therefore, we’re thrilled to share and celebrate this spectacular day with you – World Stationery Day on Wednesday, 20 April 2022.

One would think that with emails, text, and all the other electronic communication in the world that the art of letters, cards, and everything in between would fade away, but not here in South Africa… There’s so much more effort in putting words down on a nice piece of paper, but we know how appreciative our receiver/s would be because it’s something truly special.

How Stationery Forms Part of Our Lives

Humans have been writing for thousands of years to transmit information. Where it may have started with ink and other mediums which might never even be heard of, it has now developed into all kinds of mediums – pens, pencils, highlighters, kokis, crayons, etc. And this is precisely what excites us…

Since 2012, World Stationery Day ensured that the art of writing would not go extinct. PNA supports this by ensuring that writing and stationery, and other forms of communication through arts and crafts are going nowhere.

We will keep on supplying all the latest stationery trends, together with everything else that’s formed a part of our lives since we started our journey with stationery. Let’s look at what stationery might have looked like in your younger years compared to what is popular today.

Stationery Then Vs Now

Pens

Most of us started with BIC, whether the fine point or the crystal. However, now we are flooded with all kinds of choices, such as Stabilo Fineliners, Pilot Frixion Pens and Pilot Gel Pens, to name a few.

Pencil Cases

Do you remember your first pencil case? Was it one of those rigid pencil boxes covered in Tipp-Ex art and stickers? If yes, and you probably still have it somewhere or passed it on to someone in the family, then you value good stationery! Not about the material quality (well, that and more), but about the stories that come with it. Now, scholars and students are more interested in small Bantex Pencil Bags or Totem Pencil Bags, among others.

Tipp-Ex

When someone mentioned Tipp-Ex in the good ol’ days, no one asked which one because, at the time, there were only two – the fluid with the small brush or the one with the fine point. It’s only later on that the rest of the ‘correction pens’ started appearing… We wonder which one is the popular one now?!

Schoolbags

Schoolbag trends are one of those where you just can’t stay ahead. We remember a time of sling bags, backpacks, the smaller, the better (who knows where the books were kept), pencil case type boxes for school bags, etc. However, today’s kids can’t go without Cadii School Bags or Totem Orthopaedic School Bags… and recently, they challenged each other with The No Schoolbag challenge – who knows what school bags will look like in the future?

We’re sure you can think of a couple more items that used to be trendy then but not anymore, or at least take a trip down memory lane with stationery forming a part of your everyday life. Celebrate with us, share with us, and win with us!
