15 Gift Ideas for Teacher Appreciation Day

Teacher Appreciation Day

They play a critical part in our children’s lives, educating and shaping them. Who are they? No, not parents, or they could be… We’re celebrating Teacher Appreciation Day!

Although Teacher Appreciation Day is today, it forms part of Teacher Appreciation Week. This day is acknowledged annually on the Tuesday of the first full week in May.

We all know one or know of one, but these angels prepare our kids to be future leaders. Whether in organisations, on the field, or in a household, they, in turn, will have to lead their kids based on the foundations they were taught.

Teachers are generally kind, patient, hard-working, dedicated, and understanding professionals that mould children’s lives in a positive direction. That’s precisely why we’re honouring them today! Well, and the fact that we can trust them with our kiddos daily.

It’s Time to Say ‘Thank You’

There are plenty of things that you can do to show that you care. The world really is your oyster. You can be as creative as you like and do something uniquely special for the teacher you want to appreciate. Involve your kids to assist you with choosing or making the perfect gift/s – it makes it so much more thoughtful.

Here are a few options to choose from –

  1. Let your child write a letter to their teacher. If the teacher taught your child to write this year, it would definitely be a heartfelt gesture.
  2. Try this paint-drag envelope for the letter written – there’s a free template, so you don’t need to worry about drawing that yourself.
  3. Here is a free downloadable ‘Thank You’ printable for your child to fill out. Pair this with a handmade gift to complete the gifting experience.
  4. Send a gift card for classroom supplies from PNA. Use our Store Locator to find the closest store to you.
  5. Let your child make a poster with thank-you notes and stickers or objects that reflect what their teacher has taught them this year.
  6. Arrange with the other moms to put a thank-you book together with each child’s thank you note pasted in.
  7. Take a photo at school with your child and their teacher and use the hashtag #ThankATeacher to create awareness on social about the work these amazing individuals do.
  8. If the teacher has a sense of humour, make their day with a silly gift like these bubble cushion wrap stress relief sheets and free printable tags.
  9. Visit our blog for simple decorations you and your child can make for their teacher to hang up or place in their classroom.
  10. A woven paper heart basket would be fun to make, which you can fill with some sweet treats for their teacher to enjoy. Look at how easy; even your child would want to join in the folding!
  11. Donate books for their teacher’s classroom. Visit your local PNA to see all the educational books available. You don’t have to buy the entire store, but even 3 different books will be appreciated.
  12. Give their teacher something to help them practice a little self-care, like a journal or a notebook, perhaps a set of Sharpies?
  13. Try these watercolour bookmarks that their teachers can use during reading in class.
  14. Make a quick and easy macrame keychain that their teacher can use to add a little flair to their classroom keys.
  15. Decorate a clipboard that their teacher can use to organise their papers with a splash of acrylic colour.

It’s a tough job, so have fun showing appreciation. However, happy words and a bit of spoils will make any teacher’s day. PNA appreciates you, teachers! Thank you.
