Spooky Season Crafts: 3 Easy-to-Follow Halloween Crafts for the Whole Family

It’s that time of year, PNA family! The days are getting longer, and the nights are warming up—perfect for a little spooky fun. Halloween might not be a major tradition here, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy some family-friendly, crafty activities. Whether you’re hosting a little neighbourhood gathering or just looking to spend some quality time with the kids, we’ve got three cheerful Halloween crafts that the whole family can make together—using supplies from your nearest PNA store, of course! Let’s get spooky in the best way possible: with glue sticks, glitter, and plenty of creativity.

  1. Ghostly Glow Jars

Description: These glowing ghost jars are perfect for setting a spooky-yet-cheerful Halloween atmosphere. They’re great for indoor or outdoor decorations, and the best part is that the kids can help every step of the way!

Supplies:

  • Mason jars
  • White tissue paper
  • Glue
  • Black craft paper
  • Glow sticks or battery-operated tea lights
  • Scissors
  • Paintbrushes

Method:

  1. Start by coating the outside of your mason jar with a thin layer of glue using a paintbrush.
  2. Tear the white tissue paper into pieces and stick them onto the jar, covering it completely. Don’t worry about being too neat; the more texture, the better!
  3. While the tissue dries, cut out some ghostly faces from the black craft paper—think eyes, noses, and spooky smiles!
  4. Once your jar is dry, glue the faces onto your tissue-covered jars.
  5. Crack a glow stick or pop in a battery-operated tea light, place it inside the jar, and voilà—glow-in-the-dark ghost jars that will add a spooky glow to any room!
  6. Pumpkin Paper Plate Masks

around the house!

Supplies:

  • Paper plates (PNA has them in stock, and they’re perfect for this craft)
  • Orange paint
  • Green pipe cleaners
  • Black marker or black craft paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Elastic string (optional)

Method:

  1. Paint the back of your paper plate with orange paint. While it dries, chat with the kids about their favourite spooky movies or characters—keep the Halloween vibes going!
  2. Once the plate is dry, draw or cut out triangle eyes, a nose, and a zigzag mouth using the black marker or black craft paper. If you’re cutting them out, be sure to get an adult to help with those sharp scissors.
  3. Twist a green pipe cleaner or cut some paper to make a pumpkin “stem” and glue it onto the top of the plate.
  4. Punch holes on either side of the plate and tie a piece of elastic string to create a wearable mask. If you prefer not to wear it, it also works perfectly as a fun wall decoration! You can also mount it on a skewer.
  5. Pop on your pumpkin mask and show off your spooky, crafty skills!

      2.Friendly Spider Pops

Description: Not all spiders need to be scary—these little guys are downright cute! They make adorable table decorations, and the kids will love helping to make these sweet, silly spiders.

Supplies:

  • Black pipe cleaners
  • Small polystyrene balls (available at PNA)
  • Googly eyes
  • Black paint
  • Paintbrushes
  • Glue
  • Lollipop sticks

Method:

  1. Start by painting your polystyrene balls black and letting them dry. This will be your spider’s body.
  1. While the body is drying, cut your black pipe cleaners into smaller pieces—these will become the spider’s legs. Remember, spiders have eight legs!
  1. Once dry, gently push four pipe cleaners into each side of the polystyrene ball. Bend them slightly to make your spider stand tall.
  1. Glue on two googly eyes to give your spider a friendly face.
  1. Lastly, insert a lollipop stick into the bottom of the spider’s body so you can stick them into cupcakes, display them on the table, or hand them out as fun party favours.
